Sitharaman lashes out at Congress on GeM issue

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Lashing out at the Congress party for not doing their homework efficiently on Government e Market (GeM), Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman today said that the GeM has brought more transparency in procurement process and would benefit 20 per cent more to all stakeholders. Addressing the mediapersons, Ms Sitharaman said, “GeM is a transparent portal and we want to add more items into it. It will benefit 20 per cent extra to all stakeholders. The Congress should have done their homework well before calling it a scandal.” On August 9 last year, the minister had launched this portal, ensuring greater transparency and revolutionise government procurement. On H-1B Visa issue, Ms Sitharaman said, “We are talking with US administration on larger commitment. They are only reviewing the current H-1B visa policy as of now.” She also said no country can question sovereign right of issuing visa. UNI ASH SHK 1759
