Singer Harshita Dahiya's brother-in-law owns up to her murder: Police

Panipat, Oct 20 (UNI) Haryana Police on Friday said notorious gangster Dinesh Karala, brother-in-law of Haryanvi singer and dancer Harshita Dahiya, has admitted that he was behind her murder. Karala, faces 12 cases, in various police stations of Sonepat, Jind, Jhajjar and Delhi. Interacting with media persons here today, Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma said Karala was brought from Jhajjar jail on a production warrant and during interrogation revealed that he had hatched the murder conspiracy. A city court sent Karala to four days police remand, he added. The SP said that Karala revealed the names of his four associates who shot dead Harshita on Chamrara-Kakoda road in Israna block on Tuesday evening while she was returning in a car after a programme at Chamrar village. The police teams are conducting raids at various locations to nab the assailants, he added. In her statement to police, Lata, sister of Harshita, alleged that her estranged husband raped the singer in 2014 and a case was registered in this connection on the complaint of her mother Premo Devi, who was shot dead on December 17, 2014, at her house in Narela. A case was registered against her husband in Narela on the statement of her sister Harshita, who was the prime witness in both the cases.
