Sikkim Revenue affected by COVID-19 Pandemic & Lockdown -CM PS Tamang

Gangtok, Jan 24 ( UNI) Chief Minister PS Tamang, attended 69th Plenary session of North Easter Council presided over by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Doner Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in Shillong.
Presenting the issues being faced due to COVID19 Pandemic, CM stated the revenue of State has been affected severely by the Pandemic.’ 45 pc of the budgeted cost was all that could be mobilised till December 20.
Referring to Communication woes, he informed that Administrative emergencies, Health support and academic activities have been suffering and State needs quality Internet services. He has pressed for up-gradation of Internet bandwidth from 10 Mbps to 1Gbps in Sikkim to remove the hurdles.
Chief Minister PS Tamang also asked for an extension of North Eastern Industrial Scheme 2018 for further ten years. The scheme has brought changes in the growth pattern of Gross Domestic Product of State.
CM pointed out the need to levy COVID19 Cess on the output of the organized manufacturing Industries, including Pharma and Hydel Power Projects. Correspondence in this regard has been done with the Union Ministry of Finance, but the response is yet to be received. The policy is for promotion of Industries and for encouraging Investment, with several concessions.
CM has placed on record his appreciation of Scientists who have made the COVID19 vaccine available to the countrymen, according to Secretary to CM, SD Dhakal.
