Gangtok, Feb 2 (UNI) Sikkim Health, Family Welfare and Information Technology Minister MK Sharma resigned on Thursday, accusing the state government of not taking the sentiments of
the Sikkimese people "seriously".
'In view of the Supreme Court’s verdict on 13 January, 2023, in the matter of Writ Petition no 59 of 2013, the State Govt has not taken the sentiments of the Sikkimese people seriously," alleged Sharma in his resignation letter submitted to Chief Minister PS Tamang.
Sharma added that under such circumstances he "does not feel it necessary to remain in the State Cabinet further".
This is the second resignation in the government in the backdrop of some observations made by the apex court. Additional Advocate General S.Joshi put in his papers on Wednesday.
