Gangtok, Sep 22(UNI) Ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has welcomed the
announcement of By election on October 21 here.
'We are prepared for the election. Chief Minister PS Goley will be contesting.
We had said earlier also that he will be the CM," disclosed Political Secretary to
CM Jacob Khaling.
‘We are not opposition of BJP. We are in alliance with the party at centre. We
are confident that the by election on October 21 will be won by SKM. We could
win Assembly elections despite being in opposition in State, why should it be
difficult in by polls?" he said.
The announcement came as a surprise to political observers as the SKM has
not as yet confirmed any fresh decision by Election Commission of India, or any
Court related to his disqualification or otherwise to contest elections for six years
consequent upon conviction.
