Sikh community demands implementation of Anand Marriage Act in West Bengal

New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) The Sikh community has demanded implementation of Anand Marriage Act in West Bengal and has urged the Delhi MLA and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DGSMC) General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa to get this act implemented in the state.

This demand was raised by Mr Harpal Singh Johal President Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Baba Deep Singh ji Saheed Asansol at a function to celebrate the birthday of Baba Ajit Singh ji son of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib.

Lauding the efforts of Mr Sirsa to get the act implemented in different states of the country, Mr Harpal Singh Johal said Sikh community of the West Bengal also needs facility of this act for Sikh couples. The gathering on the occasion also lauded efforts of Mr Sirsa to get Children's day celebrated in the name of four sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh ji.

Thanking the Sangat and Management of the Gurudwara Sahib, Mr Sirsa assured the Sikh community of West Bengal that he will personally take up the issue of implementation of Anand Marriage Act in West Bengal.

He said it is wish of the Shiromani Akali Dal President, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal to get the act implemented in all the states of the country and he was thankful to all the governments who have implemented the act and hoped that the remaining states will also implement it to facilitate the Sikh couples to get their marriages registration under the act.

The DSGMC General Secretary also thanked the Sangat for wholeheartedly supporting the proposal to celebrate the Children's Day in the name of the four Sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh ji. He said that people of the country are coming forward to support this proposal irrespective of their religion and have acknowledged that the country should celebrate this day in name of those four children whose sacrifice has no parallel in the world.

Mr Sirsa said the move to mobilise mass support for this proposal is being planned and seminars and programs will be organised throughout the country besides taking out motorbike rallies.
