Short film 'Aaba' makes it to Berlin International Film Festival

Short film 'Aaba' makes it to Berlin International Film Festival

Chandigarh, Jan 20 (UNI) ‘Aaba’ a short film produced by reputed tricity educationist Mitul Dikshit is all set to premier at the prestigious 67th Berlin International Film Festival.
‘Aaba’ is the brainchild of Director Amar Kaushik, who has gone full circle in life before penning down this moving tale about a man on the edge of his death bed.
"The characters and story were so compelling, that when I discussed the same with close friend Raj Kumar Gupta and Onir, another ace filmmaker, they immediately decided to make the film," said Mitul Dikshit who along with Raj Kumar Gupta has produced ‘Aaba’ which is being referred to as a masterpiece in film circles.
The confidence that Raj, Onir and Mitul had in ‘Aaba’ has proved to be clearly well founded as it is all set to take world cinema by storm, as it has been selected to be premiered at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival(Berniale).
Berniale is amongst the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
The film will be premiered in the Generation Kplus competition on February 11, 13 and 15, 2017.
The story also draws a lot of emotion and realism from the fact that a purely unadulterated mind has penned the story - none other than Amar Kaushik’s mother, Shashi Kaushik.
The film is shot in the picturesque valley of Arunachal Pradesh.
The story revolves around an orphan girl who comes across the news of her grandfather reaching the terminal stages of lung cancer.
As the grandfather (Aaba) starts counting his days, the family faces unexpected turns.
Expressing happiness about the selection, Amar Kaushik said, "This is truly a memorable moment for the Aaba team.
I am thankful to my mentors Raj Kumar Gupta and Onir and my friend Mitul Dikshit for showing their confidence in me, and the entire team for their support on this project.
" "Berniale is an esteemed film event and having Aaba premiere at the film festival is an absolute honour.
We are looking forward to attending the event and representing India on the platform," adds Mitul.
Aaba has been directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Raj Kumar Gupta and Mitul Dikshit, the film has been co-produced by Onir and Alison Welly.
