Shimla’s Tara Hall is where Mira Nair began her formative education

Shimla, Nov 6 (UNI) Acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair, known globally for her films 'Salaam Bombay!', 'Monsoon Wedding', and 'Mississippi Masala', traces her early roots to the hills of Shimla - a fact that has once again drawn attention as her son, Zohran Mamdani, made history by being elected the first non-American Mayor of New York City.
Born on October 15, 1957, Mira Nair is an alumna of St. Loretto Tara Hall Convent School, Shimla, an institution founded in 1892.
It was in these serene Himalayan surroundings that she began her formative education - long before she rose to international fame as a filmmaker blending Indian ethos with global narratives.
