SHGs creating employment oppo in Punjab's Kapurthala

Kapurthala,Aug 11 (UNI) While a large number of people have lost their jobs due to the closure of many businesses due to Coronavirus pandemic, the self help groups and employment bureaus in Kapurthala district have played a great role in creating a large number of employment opportunities both directly and indirectly.

Under the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission which is run for the poor women of the villages, efforts are being made by the needy women of the villages to increase their income and raise their living standards by forming self help groups. There are grocery stores, beauty parlors, pickle marmalades, chutney farming and many more. But in the days of lockdown when the most needed masks and ready-made masks for medical work were getting expensive prices, 129 self help groups established in the district made a total of 15000 masks and 1100 aprons at reasonable prices to various institutions in the district.
