Shekhawat accuses Mamata govt of undermining federal structure, constitutional institutions

Kolkata, Jan 15 (UNI) union Minister of Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday sharply criticised the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government, alleging that its actions were eroding the core principles of India’s federal structure and weakening constitutional institutions.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of a programme at Science City, Kolkata, where he attended the 243rd Foundation Day of the Asiatic Society.
Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of the programme, Shekhawat said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the fundamental idea of federalism was being “destroyed.”
