Shatrughan Sinha, Arati Mukherjee get Bangabibhushan award

Kolkata, Nov 6 (UNI) Bollywood veteran Shatrughan Sinha and famed singer Arati Mukherjee were conferred the Banga Bibhushan award by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the inauguration of the 31st Kolkata International Film Festival on Thursday.
The 79-year-old Sinha, known for his flamboyant acting and formidable screen presence as also a unique dialogue delivery through the decades, was described as "truly a legend" and "one of the most charismatic of Hindi cinema" personalities at the gala celebration.
As Sinha, a present member of parliament and former union Minister, stood up to receive the award, the clips from his movies were played on the giant screen at the packed-to-capacity Dhana Dhanya auditorium.
Mukherjee, three years senior to Sinha, was feted as the "singer whose voice has been the soul of Bengali cinema for decades". "Her music continues to inspire generations", said actor Parambrata Mukherjee, who was hosting the programme.

A beaming Mukherjee, somewhat overwhelmed, bowed down to the audience, as her iconic song "Do Naina Aur Ek Kahani" played in the background.
