Sharad Yadav, Sanjay Singh and Nirbhaya's mother meet Maliwal as her strike enters day five

New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) Senior politician Sharad Yadav, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Nirbhaya's mother on Saturday met Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal as her indefinite hunger strike against the rapes entered fifth day.
The senior leaders and Nirbhaya's mother in support of Maliwal's cause visited her and enquired about her health as she held the ground continuing her strike despite the cold weather conditions at the Samta Sthal in the Raj Ghat's vicinity.
The DCW chief said she will also be requesting the Home Secretary seeking removal of the security of the political leaders as staying in security they are not able to realise and feel the fear and insecurity a woman goes through.
She said that her hunger strike will continue till the government does not set a system or take such steps that will ensure punishment to rapists within six months.
DCW chief expressed grief over the passing away of Unnao rape survivor this morning and demanded fast track decision within a month in the Unnao rape.
The victim was allegedly set ablaze by some men and the accused in the case while she was going to appear for the hearing of the case on Thursday.
The victim who received about 90 per cent burns succumbed to her injuries at Safdarjung hospital after having a cardiac arrest on Friday night.
She was airlifted to Delhi for better medical treatment on Thursday night and was put on life support systems on riday morning as her condition had become very critical.
Maliwal repeated the survivor's last words according to which she asked doctors to save her , she wanted to live and watch the accused being punished.
Meanwhile , actors and eminent personalities including large number of people with maximum coming from the students fraternity have been meeting Maliwal extending support to her cause.
Maliwal also appealed to people to join the candle march from Raj Ghat to India gate in the evening in solidarity with the rape survivor and demanding action against the rapists and in overall support of the women safety and delivery of justice in the rape cases.
