Srinagar, Aug 10 (UNI) In a surprise political development, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer-turned-politician Dr Shah Faesal has removed his designation as president of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) from his Twitter bio.
Removal of JKPM president from his Twitter bio has not only shocked common people who supported him wholeheartedly when he launched the new party in March last year, but his party colleagues are surprised. However, a senior party leader said even if Dr Faesal will leave, the JKPM will continue to exist though they (party leaders) still believe that he will continue to lead them.
The Dr Faesal’s Twitter bio earlier mentioned his role as the JKPM president, which has now been updated as “Edward S Fellow @HKS Harvard University. Medico. Fulbright. Centrist.”
Dr Faesal was arrested at New Delhi airport when he was leaving for abroad after his first interview with an international television channel when centre abrogated Article 370 and 35 A besides divided the Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs). He has said during the interview that political leaders in the Jammu and Kashmir have now left only two options “you either have to be a stooge or you have to be a separatist”.
He was later shifted to Srinagar where he was detained before his release and put under house arrest.
JKPM leaders said that the change in Faesal’s bio should not be seen as him quitting politics. Some of them believe that IAS topper Dr Faesal, who has been under house arrest, might pursue education abroad.
