Lucknow, Aug 6 (UNI) Security forces went on alert after a Pro-Khalistan group - Sikhs for Justice, on Friday threatened that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will not be allowed to hoist the national flag on Independence Day.
An audio message from an international phone number has been received by Uttar Pradesh Police which not only threatens CM Adityanath against hosting the national flag on August 15 but also warns of shutting down of thermal plants.
The audio message from international phone number +6478079192 purportedly in the name of SFJ's Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, claimed that western areas in Uttar Pradesh i.e. from Saharanpur to Rampur will be taken over by Khalistan.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said that police are trying to track the source and check the authenticity of the audio. Mr Kumar said the phone call could be a 'mischief' and assured of a speedy and thorough probe.
Earlier, similar warnings were issued against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
In telephonic calls to journalists, a person identifying himself as Pannu had said, "We will not allow Jai Ram Thakur to hoist the Indian tricolour. Himachal Pradesh was part of Punjab and we are seeking a referendum in Punjab. Once we liberate Punjab, we will make sure that we take over areas of Himachal Pradesh which were parts of Punjab."
The Himachal Pradesh Police already booked Pannun for sedition for reportedly issuing a threat to CM Thakur against hoisting the national flag on Independence Day. It may be mentioned that US-based SFJ advocates for Sikh Referendum 2020. It openly supports the cause of Khalistan and challenges the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.
