Sex Scandal: Karnataka Home Minister warns of action if Prajwal evades SIT summons

Bengaluru, May 28 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara issued a resolute statement here on Tuesday, cautioning Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna that swift measures will be taken to ensure his return to the country if he fail to heed the summons of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) by May 31.
Prajwal is facing grave accusations of sexual misconduct, triggering a nationwide pursuit for his extradition.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Parameshwara underscored the exhaustive efforts undertaken domestically to facilitate Revanna's repatriation. These endeavors encompass obtaining an arrest warrant, liaising with the Ministry of Home and External Affairs, and the issuance of a Blue Corner Notice.
"We have pursued all available avenues within our legal framework to facilitate Prajwal's return. Our engagements with central authorities have been comprehensive, and essential legal procedures have been activated.
The issuance of a Blue Corner Notice underscores our unwavering commitment to resolve this matter. Prajwal's recent indication of willingness to return has been duly acknowledged," remarked the Home Minister.
Reflecting on Prajwal's potential motivations for repatriation, he speculated on the implications of his impending parliamentary term expiration and the potential revocation of his diplomatic passport.
Nevertheless, Dr Parameshwara emphasised that upon Prajwal's return, legal proceedings will be initiated, with the SIT entrusted to determine the appropriate course of action.
"Adherence to the rule of law is paramount. Upon Prajwal's return, we will initiate legal procedures with diligence. The Special Investigation Team will deliberate on the appropriate measures for his apprehension, taking into account all legal considerations. Our foremost objective remains uncovering the truth," he reiterated.
Addressing Prajwal's allegations of political maneuvering, Dr Parameshwara reiterated the SIT's unwavering commitment to impartiality, affirming a meticulous examination of all facets of the case.
Prajwal, 33, scion of the JDS stalwart HD Deve Gowda and the NDA's candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, left the country on a diplomatic passport and visa on April 27, a day subsequent to the polls, and has since remained elusive.
