Seven more test positive, TN's corona count increases to 74

Chennai, Mar 31 (UNI) Seven more people tested positive,

taking the number of corona cases in Tamil Nadu to 74 today.

Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar in a tweet said five of

them have travel history to Delhi where they took part in

a recent religious meeting, while one had a travel history

to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

Another male patient was a co-worker of an earlier patient.

The cases were reported in Chennai (1), Tiruvannamalai (1),

Villuppuram (3) and Madurai (2).

A 43-year-old man with travel history to Thiruvananthapuram

has been admitted to Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital (RGGGH)


A 28-year-old male co-worker of earlier COVID-19 patient

was admitted to Tiruvannamalai Medical College Hospital.

There men with travel history to Delhi have been diagnosed

with COVID-19 in Villuppuram and two male patient admitted

to Madurai Rajaji Hospital after they tested positive.

All patients were in isolation and stable.

The Minister tweeted 'TN has 7 new #COVID19 +ve cases.

So far 24 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours

with 17 testing positive yesterday alone, taking the numbers

from 50 to 67 and now it increased to 74.

Asked about the spurt in cases Chief Minister Edappadi

K Palaniswami said a group of 1,500 people from the State

had went to Delhi for a conference and many from that group

were testing positive.

The State has reported only a single death and six people,

who tested positive, were discharged from hospital after

treatment and were under home quarantine.
