Seven member RS delegation to visit Japan

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) A seven-member delegation of Rajya Sabha, headed by Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha Harivansh, will visit Japan from March 16-20 on the invitation from the Chairman of the House of Councillors (Upper House) of the Japanese Parliament (Diet).



The delegation comprises members of the Rajya Sabha Bhubaneswar Kalita, Shamsher Singh Manhas and Banda Prakash, the Secretary-General and other officials of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.

This will be the first ever visit of an exclusive Rajya Sabha delegation that will be on a goodwill mission to another country. During the visit, the delegation will call on Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the President of the Upper House and the Speaker of the Lower House of Japanese Parliament to discuss matters of mutual interest between the two Parliaments in particular and between the two countries in general.
Ahead of the visit of the Indian Parliamentary Delegation to Japan, Ambassador of Japan in India also called on the members of Delegation in Parliament House Annexe.
