New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) More than seven lakh teachers today observed 'black day' across the nation to protest against the privatisation of education and demanding implementation of Seventh Pay Commission. Under the leadership of All India College and University Teachers Federation (AIFUCTO) general secretary Arun Kumar and Central University Teachers Federation general secretary Nandita Narayan, teachers observed the 'black day.' Both the organisation in a joint communique has warned the government that if they do not accept their demands, 'Teachers' Day' will be celebrated as 'Jail Bharo Diwas'. These organisations in their communiqué has also said that the government has not published the Chauhan Committee report related to the Seventh Pay Commission, in protest of which the teachers have organised protest wearing black bands.
