Seven killed in Lahore blast

Islamabad, Feb 23 (UNI) At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured as blast rocked Lahore's commercial area, local media said today. Government of Pakistan's Punjab province on its official Twitter page claimed that the explosion was caused by a generator blast, Pakistan Daily Dawn news said. Rescue officials have reached the site, it said. As per media reports, the explosion occurred inside a restaurant and has caused considerable damage to nearby buildings. Due to the impact of the explosion, windows of nearby buildings and windscreen of cars parked were shattered. Punjab province Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said, "There was no reason to target the building. I have been informed that plaza was not inaugurated yet." TV footage shows shattered windscreens in cars parked nearby as well as rubble from the damaged building strewn across the road. Law enforcement personnel have sealed the market and a search operation is ongoing. Teams from Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory have reached the spot to collect evidence. UNI XC SV SB 1341
