Sensex gains 23.28 pts

Mumbai, Mar 20 (UNI) The BSE Sensex registered a marginal gain of 23.28 points to 38,386.75 following gains in Infosys, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank and L & T stocks.

While, the Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell by 11.35 points at 11,521.05.

A lacklustre trading was witnessed during the day, as the day opened in green at 38,433.86, rising by 70 points.
During the day it gained further by 126 points to 38,489.81 day high. Till the end of the day, it slightly declined from day high figure but ended positive only at 38,386.75, advancing by 23,28 points from its last close. With this, the rally was intact for the eighth straight session today.

The Nifty of national stock exchange registered day high and low at 11,556.10 and 11,503.10 respectively.
The sectoral indices include, IT, Realty, Technology, Capital Goods and Finance kept the market firm however, selling in Utilities, Auto and Energy capped from further gain, broker informed.

In scrips, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank and L & T increased whileNTPC, ONGC, Coal India and Tata Steel slipped during the day.
Broader market corrected. Among secondary barometers, the BSE Mid-Cap index fell 0.36 pc. The BSE Small-Cap index fell 0.33 pc.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. On BSE, 1125 shares rose and 1550 shares fell. A total of 180 shares were unchanged.

There will be no trading on Thursday on account of 'Holi', traders informed.
