Mumbai, Jan 23 (UNI) The BSE Sensex tanked for second straight
session on Wednesday by 336.17 points to end at one-week-low of
36,108.47 on brisk selling in most of the sectoral indices.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too declined by 91.25
points to 10,831.50.
The Sensex, which had slid by 134 points on Tuesday, went up by 50
points to 36,494.12 in the morning session and advanced by 77 points
to touch day's high of 36,521.47 in intra day. Later, it nosedived
nearly 407 points to hit day's low of 36,037.90 during the day. It
recovered some of the losses in late trade but closed negative at
36,108.47, down by 336.17 points as compared to its last close.
The sectoral indices like FMCG, Finance, Power, Realty and
Technology dragged the market down for another day today, along with
scrips of ITC, Powergrid, Infosys, M&M and NTPC.
While, buying in Sun Pharma, Yes Bank, Tata Steel and Hindustan
Unilever capped the equity market's further fall, brokers informed.
The broader markets were also under pressure, as the BSE Mid-Cap
index and Small-Cap fell 0.28 per cent and 0.16 pc, respectively.
The market breadth was negative on BSE, as 1,073 shares gained
versus 1,472 declined and 144 were unchanged.
