Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Friday touched 38K level to 38,024.32, up by 269.43 points led by gains in Telecom, Bankex , IT, Utensils, Power and Realty stocks amid strong global cues.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rallied by 83.60
points to 11,426.85.
The Sensex rose marginally up by 16 points to 37,760.23 in opening session. It spurted by 500 points to 38,254.77, day high.
In late trade it slightly down from day high figure and finished at 38,024.32, advancing by 269.43 points from its last close.
The Nifty registered day high and low at 11,487 and 11,370.80 points respectively.
The sectoral indices like Finance, Health Care, IT, Bankex and Power kept the market robust for fifth straight session.
In scrips, Kotak Bank, ONGC, Powergrid, TCS and NTPC increased while Hind Unilever, Yes Bank, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel declined that capped from further gain, broker informed. Positive
global stocks boosted sentiment.
The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.55 pc. The S&P BSE Small-Cap index fell 0.34 pc.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. On the BSE, 1208 shares rose and 1476 shares fell. A total of 176 shares were unchanged.
