Sensex down 220.05 pts

Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) The equity market remained weak for the third straight session on Tuesday as the BSE Sensex tumbled down 220.05 pts to settle at 75170.45 as selling pressure was seen in Realty, Utilities,Power and Telecommunications stocks amid mixed global cues.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 44.30 pts at 22,888.15.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22,998.55 and 22,858.50 pts respectively.
The market remained volatile today as the Sensex opened in green at 75585.40, surging 195 pts and it was the days high figure. Later, it was dropped nearly 307 pts at 75083.22, days low. Till the end of the day, it was improved from days low to finish at 75170.45, sliding 220.05 pts from its previous close.
The stocks that kept the market under pressure were Realty by 2.22 pc followed by Utilities by 1.55 pc, Power by 1.86 pc, BSE services by 1.37 pc and Telecommunications by 1.26 pc.
In 30 scrips, 10 advanced while 20 declined.
The Mid Cap slipped 63 pc and small Cap by 1.09 pc.
The losers were Powergrid by 1.64 pc to Rs 312.80, Tech Mahindra by 1.21 pc to Rs 1313.50, NTPC by 1.16 pc to Rs 365.30, Tata Motors by 1.12 pc to Rs 947.30 and Bharti Airtel by 0.95
pc to Rs 1370.55.
The gainers were Asian Paints by 1.30 pc to Rs 2910.45, Wipro by 0.76 pc to Rs 456 and JSW Steel by 0.37 pc to Rs 905.05.
A mixed trend was witnessed in Asian market as Hang Seng fell by 0.03 pc, Kospi by 0.01 pc and Shanghai Composite by 0.47 pc.
While, Taiwan Weighted was up by 0.25 pc and Strait Times by 0.35 pc.
