Sensex advances by 144 pts

Mumbai, Nov 5 (UNI) The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Wednesday surged by 144 points to 40,445 as renewed buying in Materials, FMCG, Finance, Health Care and IT stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too went up by 33 points to 11,974.60.

The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 40,466.55 and 40,237.97 points, respectively.

The Nifty recorded day intra day high and low at 11,978.95 and 11,917.95 points, respectively.
The sectoral indices like Materials, FMCG, Finance, Health Care and IT stocks kept up in early trade.
The gainers were Yes Bank by 3.63 per cent to Rs 68.50, SBI by 2.15 per cent to Rs 320.95, VEDL by 1.40 per cent to Rs 159.50 and Tata Motors by 1.31 per cent to Rs 174.40.
The losers were Infosys by 1.07 per cent to Rs 701.40, Kotak Bank by 0.83 per cent to Rs 1556.80, Asian Paints by 0.52 per cent to Rs 1776.40, IndusInd Bank by 0.45 per cent to Rs 1345.65.
