New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday visited the Bhajanpura incident site, where five people died in a building collapse, and said they will request Election Commission (EC) to allow them to provide Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the victims.
“What has happened is very upsetting. The construction was going on illegally. We'll give orders to investigate how MCD allowed it. We'll request EC to allow us to provide Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the victims,” the CM told the reporters.
“Visited site of Bhajanpura accident. Am pained by tragic death of four students and owner of the coaching institute. One illegal floor was being constructed which collapsed. Inquiry is being ordered. Guilty shall not be spared. Sending proposal for compensation to EC for approval,” Mr Kejriwal said in a tweet.
Five people lost their lives, after an under-construction building of a coaching centre collapsed in Subhash Mohalla, Bhajanpura here on Saturday evening, a fire official said.
“A call was received at 1630 hrs that a under-construction building of a coaching centre collapsed in Gali 6, Subhash mohalla, Bhajanpura, and nine fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot to rescue the students,” the official said.
Around eight students got injured in the accident and were immediately rushed to the GTB hospital, and Panchsheel hospital in Yamuna Vihar for the treatment, he added.
