New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Maharashtra government and sought a detailed response from it after hearing a petition filed by Mafia don, Arun Gawli, who had challenged his life sentence in connection with 2008 Shiv Sena Councilor Kamlakar Jamsandekar murder case.
The Bombay High Court had on December 19, 2019 upheld the life sentence awarded to Gawli by the lower court in 2012 under the Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA).
"We issue notice to the Maharashtra government and see it's detailed response on the petiton filed by Arun Gawli," a two-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice R Banumathi said.
