Security forces bust two terror modules, militant & 8 associates arrested in JK's Baramulla

Srinagar, Sep 26 (UNI) Security forces have busted two major terror modules and arrested a militant and eight associates, including two women, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, Amod Nagpure, said one of the modules was involved in supplying arms smuggled from across the Line of Control to Lashkar-e-Taiba militants.

He said the busting of these two modules in recent days in the district has helped forces to foil major terror attacks.

SSP Baramulla said the first module was busted on September 14, with the arrest of three militant associates, including a resident of Poonch Jammu.

Nagpure said that joint forces of Baramulla Police and Army's 8 Rashtriya Rifles during naka checking at Paranpeelan Bridge Uri noticed two suspected persons who tried to flee.
“They were apprehended tactfully. During their personal search, 2 Glock pistols, four pistol magazines, 2 pistol silencers, 5 live Chinese Grenades and 29 live Pistol rounds were recovered from them and were taken into custody immediately,” the top police official said.

The two were later identified as Zaid Hassan Malla resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla and Mohammad Arif Channa of Stadium Colony Baramulla.

“This LeT network was spread up to Poonch and we are identifying other people involved in the supply chain of weapons and tracing routes used for arms supply. This module was involved in cross border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan based terror handlers and its further distribution to LeT terrorists for carrying out terror activities,” Amod said.
The SSP said another module was busted when Police through reliable sources came to know on September 21, that Yaseen Ahmad Shah of Janbazpora Baramulla was missing from his home and has joined proscribed terror outfit LeT/ TRF.

“Based on human/technical intelligence, a joint team of Baramulla Police, Army & CAPF during checking at Tapper Pattan apprehended the said terrorist on September 22. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including a pistol, a pistol Magazine and 8 live rounds were recovered from his possession,” he said.
