Second standard student beaten up for not able to read Malayalam chapter properly

Kottayam, Jan 23 (UNI) A second standard student was severely beaten up with a cane by a teacher at the Mannarappara St.Xavier's Lower Primary School near Kuruppanthara here, police sources said on Thursday.
A case has been filed with the police by Soumya, mother of student Pranav Raj.
There are about 20 injury marks on the legs of Pranav, who was taken to the Taluk hospital here by the family.
Activists of Students Federation of India (SFI)and Democratic Youth Federation of India took out a protest march to the school demanding the arrest of the teacher.
According to Soumya, Pranav was beaten up as he was not reading a Malayalam chapter properly. UNI GKN CS 1820
