SEC requests govt to amend provisions related to holding MPPs, ZPPs first meeting for announcement of results

Hyderabad, May 25 (UNI) A day after State Election Commission (SEC) postponed the counting of votes polled in the recent local body election held to Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencices (MPTCS), it has requested the Telangana government to amend the provisions relating to conduct of the first meeting of MPPs, ZPPs.
This will enable to complete indirect elections for the posts of President and Vice Presidents of MPPs and Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of ZPPs in quick succession to the counting and declaration of results of the direct elections to MPTCs and ZPTCs, SEC said in a statement said on Saturday.
The SEC said soon after receiving the response from the Government, a revised date for counting of votes polled in the election to MPTCs and ZPTCs will be notified by the SEC.
