New Delhi, Nov 4 (UNI) To claim the credit of the 'Signature Bridge' before its inauguration in the national capital, a scuffle broke out between the AAP and BJP workers as BJP MP Manoj Tiwari who reached the venue to witness the inaugural event, was allegedly stopped by AAP supporters and police.
Mr Tiwari , who reached the venue, accused the AAP government of taking undue credit of the completion of the bridge, saying that it was the efforts made by him and getting Rs 33 crore sanctioned for the project.
'We peacefully reached the venue and wanted to welcome the CM , who although is taking fake credit for the Bridge, but were stopped by the local police led by the DCP who is taking sided with Aam Aadmi Party', Mr Tiwari alleged.
'AAP workers attacked us, police stopped us and misbehaved with a Member of Parliament from the particular constituency,' Mr Tiwari said.
BJP supporters also shouted slogans against the AAP.
Barricades were put in places where the people who were not invited were stopped from going beyond a point.
Mr Tiwari was also seen allegedly slapping someone who tried to stop him form progressing ahead.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to twitter and accused the BJP workers of creating ruckus on such an event and also alleged that police watched as a mute spectator.
'Unprecedented. Chaos by BJP at Signature Bridge inauguration site. Its a Delhi govt program, Police mute spectator. Can LG, being head of Del police, ensure peace and order at Signature bridge inauguration site?, Mr Kejriwal tweeted.
There was a large turn out of people, leaders at the venue where the iconic bridge was to be inaugurated at 1600 hours , but got delayed due to the chaotic situation due to the scuffle between AAP and BJP workers , claiming the credit.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also tweeted expressing distress over the ruckus.
