SCR adds extra chair car to two trains

Nanded, May 18 (UNI) The South Central Railway (SCR) has resolved to augment Tapovan express and Marathwada express with one Chair Car which will benefit to more than one lakh passengers every year.
The peoples representatives and general public of Marathwada area were continuously seeking for augmentation of coaches to the Nanded-Mumbai-Nanded Tapovan express and Dharmabad-Manmad-Dharmabad Marathwada express. However, due to platform constraint at Mumbai and Manmad of the Central Railway, the additional coaches could not be operated by the train.
Considering the heavy passenger occupancy of these two popular trains, SCR has decided to replace the Pantry Car of train no. 17617/17618 Nanded-Mumbai-Nanded Tapovan express with one Chair Car to accommodate additional passengers. Consequently, additional chair car will also be available by train No. 17687-17688
Dharmabad-Manmad-Dharmabad Marathwada express for the daily commuters.
This additional coach will be attached to the trains (No.17687/17688) Dharmabad-Manmad-Dharmabad Marathwada express from May 31, to the train (no. 17618) Nanded-Mumbai Tapovan express from June
1 and to the train (No.17617) Mumbai-Nanded Tapovan express from June 2.
On account of the absence of pantry car the railways will make arrangements to strengthen the catering arrangements at the enroute stations for the above trains so that the passengers are not put to inconvenience during their journey, informed the PRO of Nanded division of the SCR Rajesh Shinde.
Nanded division was formed in April 2003 upon bifurcation of Hyderabad division. Being a single line division, it is very difficult to take long blocks for maintenance of track. As a result the divisional authorities could not take up the track renewal works in the last 15-16 years and therefore the trains are not being run with the full permissible speeds on account of several caution orders. Several complaints and representations from the public, passenger associations are received for speeding up the trains and to improve punctuality. Nanded divisional authorities have therefore decided to take up enmasse track renewal works to speed up the trains for enhancing safety & punctuality of the trains. It necessitates blocking the section for prolonged periods to carry
out the track renewal works, causing temporary detention, rescheduling and cancellation of trains. In this regard the Divisional Railway Manager Nanded Trikalagya Rabha appealed to the people to co-operate with the Railways in their endeavour to undertake track renewals.
