SCCL to prioritise coal supply for Telangana power plants amid rising demand

Hyderabad, July 17 (UNI)The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on Friday said it would accord top priority to coal supplies for Telangana's thermal power stations to ensure uninterrupted power generation amid rising electricity demand under prevailing El Niño conditions.
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti chaired a video conference with TGGENCO CMD Dr. Harish and senior officials of both organisations to review power demand, coal production, transportation and stock position.
Dr. Jyoti said close coordination between SCCL and TGGENCO was essential to maintain adequate coal stocks at all thermal power stations in the state.
He directed officials to designate special officers to closely monitor coal transportation and resolve operational issues on priority to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies.
According to SCCL officials, around 72 per cent of the coal produced by the company is currently supplied to TGGENCO thermal power stations, NTPC Ramagundam and the Singareni Thermal Power Plant.
The CMD directed officials to give greater priority to meeting the coal requirements of Telangana's thermal power stations and, if required, reallocate coal earmarked for other states to meet the state's demand.
He also instructed both organisations to continuously review coal requirements and coordinate on production, transportation, railway rake availability and road logistics to ensure seamless coal movement.
Dr. Jyoti further directed General Managers of all SCCL areas to prevent any disruption to coal production in opencast mines during the monsoon season and maintain coal quality while ensuring production targets are met.
TGGENCO CMD Dr. Harish reviewed coal stocks at thermal power stations and called upon field-level officials to proactively resolve transportation bottlenecks to facilitate uninterrupted coal movement.
Senior officials from SCCL and TGGENCO, including directors, executive directors, chief engineers and general managers, participated in the coordination meeting.
