SC verdict on Ayodhya 'historic': WB BJP

Kolkata, Nov 9 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party's West Bengal unit chief Dilip Ghosh on Saturday said the Supreme Court's verdict on the disputed land at Ayodhya was "historic".
"I would like to thank the Apex court for its historic judgment. All of us should respect the court's judgement. We are hopeful that the temple would be built soon. Hundreds of kar sevaks, who had lost their lives during the Ram Janambhommi movement will now rest in peace," Mr Ghosh further said a press conference here.
However, the ruling Trinamool Congress’s silence triggered sniggers from the BJP.
Trinamool Congress supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was yet to react to the development.
Ms Banerjee, one of the quickest among the country's political leaders to take to Twitter on any important issue, has not posted anything on social media so far.
The ruling party maintained silence on the Ayodhya verdict even as major parties of the state - the BJP, CPI(M) and the Congress came out with their reactions.
"The Trinamool remains silent whenever there is an issue concerning Indian culture, pride and tradition. They are mum on national right issues also. They were even practically silent on the surgical strikes, and the Pulwama terror attack, the BJP state president said.
"It is difficult for those people to react on these kind of developments As they are only obsessed with political spin-offs," Mr Ghosh stated.
