New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday decided to hear next week a petition filed by senior Congress leader Kamal Nath, seeking transparency in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh state Assembly elections.
A three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Chief Justice (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, said 'We would hear the matter likely in the next week'.
It, however, had not given any date for further hearing in the matter.
The petition sought the apex court's intervention and a direction to the Election Commission (ECI) that it should match and equate the votes, which would be cast by voters, on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh State Assembly elections.
