New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) The Supreme Court will hear at 1500 hrs on Wednesday the response of lawyer Utsav Bains in support of his allegations in the framing of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi in a sexual harassment case.
The top court had issued summons to the Delhi Police Commissioner, CBI Director and IB chief to be present at 1230 hrs in judges' chamber in connection with the claims of lawyer, Utsav Bains, that a 'larger conspiracy' was hatched to frame the CBI.
The top court said that they issued summons as to discuss the allegations levelled by Bains that a 'larger conspiracy' was hatched to frame the CJI.
"We are issuing summons to the Delhi Police Commissioner, CBI Director and IB chief to assemble at 1230 today in judges' chamber to discuss the entire issue," the bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Arun Mishra said.
The top court on Tuesday issued the notice to the lawyer to appear before it in person after he claimed that he was asked to “frame" Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi in the sexual harassment complaint.
Earlier, during the course of the hearing, Bains and Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta and Attorney-General KK Venugopal argued before the top court in the case.
Solicitor-General Mehta told the SC that CBI director may not be able to come as he may be out of Delhi but joint director will come to court. Mehta said that the SC should order SIT probe on larger conspiracy to malign CJI.
Bains submitted to the top court that he has credible evidence to prove his claim.
Justice Arun Mishra says CJI wants to clean up the system.
Justice Mishra said, "There are serious issues about independence of judiciary here. He must look at these allegations".
