New Delhi, Jul 12 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay the Maharashtra High Court judgement and issued notice returnable in two weeks to the State of Maharashtra, challenging the Bombay High Court judgement, which had upheld the reservation for Maratha community in the state.
The three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, gave the verdict on a plea filed by Jaishri Laxmanrao Patil. However, the bench did not stay the verdict.
"We are issuing notice to the state of Maharashtra. Notice returnable within two weeks. We are at this stage, refused to stay the HC judgement," the bench of the apex court, observed.
