New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday, in its verdict, refused to refer the petitions challenging the Nagaraj judgement and held that the judgement cannot be referred to a larger bench with respect to the issue of reservation in promotion to SC ST candidates.
The Apex Court five-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, and Ashok Bhushan and Arjan Kumar Sikri, said, there was no need to send the matter to a larger Constitution bench.
The Apex Court also said that the states don't have to collect data from SC ST candidates.
"There is no merit in the petitions," the Court said.
