New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued summons to the Chief Secretaries of Andhra Pradesh and Bihar and sought their personal presence over alleged non-payment of compensation to the kith and kin of those who succumbed to Covid-19.
“They (states) are not above the law,” a bench of the apex court headed by Justice M R Shah said. "They are to remain present at 2 pm today (via video conferencing)."
The court issued the order after hearing a plea filed by a lawyer, Gaurav Bansal, relating to the non-payment of ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those who succumbed to Covid-19 and post-Covid complications.
