New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) Supreme Court on Friday said that the arrest of former ISRO scientist, S. Nambi Narayan, was needless and unnecessary and granted him a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the mental torture meted out to him by the Kerala police in the alleged spying case.
According to the Kerala police, the former ISRO Scientist, Nambi Narayanan was arrested for allegedly involved in an espionage case.
A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra also ordered to constitute a committee headed by the retired Supreme Court judge DK Jain to investigate into the role of certain erring Kerala police officials in the alleged arrest of Nambi Narayan.
