SC lawyer, Ajay Agrawal, files complaint against PM Modi over his remarks on Rajiv Gandhi

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI)Ajay Agrawal, a Delhi-based Supreme Court lawyer, also a petitioner in the Bofors case, has filed a complaint against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for alleged derogatory remarks against the former Premier late Rajiv Gandhi during his address at different public meetings in Uttar Pradesh earlier this month.
Mr Agrawal who was also a petitioner in the Bofors case in the Supreme Court for the past 14 years, had also written a letter to the PM on April 10 and May 6 stating that he should not speak in such 'defamatory' language against a former Prime Minister who was already dead.
In his complaint filed before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rouse Avenue Courts New Delhi , Mr Agrawal alleged that it was a 'clear cut case of criminal defamation under Section 499 IPC and Mr Modi is liable to be punished under Section 500 IPC'.
Further in his complaint, Mr Agrawal said that apart from the family and relatives calling such an extremely derogatory and defamatory remarks , hurts the feelings of crores of Indians who heard Mr Modi's speech.
He has sought registration of his complaint and recording his evidence.
Apart from Mr Modi , he has also made Chanakya Police Station New Delhi as a respondent in the matter.
The matter is likely to be heard on Monday in the CMM , Rouse Avenue Courts.
