New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Centre on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the Union Home Ministry's December 20 order in which it allowed ten investigating agencies to monitor any computer resource.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi asked the Centre to file its reply within six weeks.
After hearing the petitioners - Manohar Lal Sharma, Amit Sahni and Shreya Singhal, the Apex Court said, it would examine and hear and see what it could do on the issue after the Centre's reply in the matter.
Mr Sahni, in his petition, sought the dismissal of the Central government’s order or notification, and claimed that it was “undemocratic and an assault on fundamental rights of the citizens of India”.
