New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Centre whether this can be believed that there is no starvation death in the country and said the community kitchens must be opened in states and asked the Centre to frame model scheme and logistics for the purpose.
A bench headed by Chief Justice (CJI) NV Ramana asked the states to give data in two weeks about malnutrition, starvation deaths and related issues.
The Apex Court asked the Centre to consider these affidavits and devise a model scheme in 10 days after getting data from the states for helping the hunger-related issues faced by the poor through spread of community kitchens across India.
