New Delhi, Jan 22(UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday allowed arrested Kerala Journalist Siddique Kappan to talk to his ailing mother through video conferencing.
A bench headed by the Chief Justice S A Bobde, and Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian was hearing a petition filed by Kerala Union of Working Journalists .
Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Kappan, said he has filed an application seeking Court's permission to allow Kappan to talk to his ailing 90-year-old mother through video conferencing.
The bench said, 'We will allow it.'
Meanwhile, the matter has been adjourned till next Monday, on a request made by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.
The scribe was detained along with some others on October 5 while on their way to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, where a Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by four men.
An FIR had been registered under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in the case. Kappan is lodged in the Mathura jail.
