Satyaki Savarkar Makes Key Admissions During Cross-Examination in Rahul Gandhi Defamation Case

Pune, July 14 ( UNI): Significant developments emerged on Tuesday in the criminal defamation case filed against Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, as complainant Satyaki Savarkar made several admissions during his cross-examination before the Special MP/MLA Court in Pune.
During the proceedings, Satyaki Savarkar stated that his assertion that "had Savarkar compromised with the British, they would have made him Prime Minister" was his personal opinion.
He further admitted that he was unaware of the distinction between "General Amnesty" and "Clemency/Mercy Petition." He also said he did not know whether political prisoners received the benefit of a general amnesty after World War I or whether Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was covered under any such amnesty.
