Bangkok, Aug 4 (UNI) Indian doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty edged out reigning world champions Li Jun Hui and Liu Yu Chen of China in the men's doubles winning the biggest title of their career at the Thailand Open here on Sunday.
Chirag and Satwiksairaj defeated third seeds Chinese duo by 21-19, 18-21, 21-18 finishing the game in an hour and two minutes.
The Indian pair reached the first finals of the year, earlier in 2018 Commonwealth Games both had bagged silver in the men's doubles.
The opening game saw Indian shuttlers taking 10-6 lead, but the Chinese pair equalled the score 14-14 but then Indians took the score to 20-18 reducing the score to 20-19 earning one point winning the first game.
In the second game, the Indian pair kept 6-2 lead, but the Chinese took the game to level the score at 11-11, earning two points taking score to 13-11, but Indian fought back to level score at 13-13 and again took 16-14 lead, after this the Chinese pair gained five consecutive points taking the second game.
In the decider game, Indian started on a slow pace but levelled the score at 6-6, however, Indians maintained their lead till the end. At one point of time the Chinese pair were 18-19, but Indian duo earned two consecutive points to grab the title in their name.
