Panaji, Jun 24 (UNI) Sao Joao, one of the famous Christian feasts in Goa, is being celebrate with pomp, gaiety, enthusiasm and vibrancy across the state.
It is the feast of St John the Baptist which is celebrated on June 24 every year. On this day, young men jump into wells to retrieve gifts thrown by villagers. Even people from all age groups jump into streams, ponds or wells. In Siolim, a village in Bardez taluka in North Goa District, races of colourful boats are organised.
People dressed in colourful outfits were seen gathered at streams, ponds and wells. However, at some places artificial water bodies were created and people were seen jumping into them. In various parts of the state,
