Saina, Sameer bow out in quarter-final of Asia Badminton C'ships

New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Indian star shuttler Saina Nehwal and unseeded Sameer Verma bowed out of their respective singles matches after losing against their opponents in the quarter-final matches of the Asia Badminton Championships in Wuhan, China on Friday.

Seventh seed Saina's old rival and third seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan defeated the Indian 21-13, 21-23, 21-16 to reach the semi-final.

Saina lost her first game, but bounced back winning the second however in the decider the Japanese player snatched victory.

Sameer Verma was edged out by China's Shi Yuqi 21-10, 21-12 within a time span of 36 minutes in the men's singles quarter-final.
