Saharanpur police arrests 7 women involved in illicit liquor business

Saharanpur, Jun 18 (UNI) Local police have arrested seven women involved in illicit liquor trade and destroyed about 5000 litres of raw material used in formation of illicit liquor.

Deputy superintendent of policed (Deoband) Ajay Sharma here on Tuesday said under drive against illicit liquor mafias Deoband Kotwali incharge Anand Dev Mishra arrested seven women from Sainpur village. About 65 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from them and over 5000 litres of raw material was destroyed.

Mr Sharma said case was registered against arrested women and further probe was on. He said police had information that several families were involved in illicit liquor trade in Senpur and nearby villages.

More than 30 people had lost their lives after consuming illicit liquor in Deoband area in the recent past. Several campaigns were initiated by police to nab the culprits afterwards.
