Safe Drive Save Life programme reduces accidents in Bengal

Safe Drive Save Life programme reduces accidents in Bengal

Kolkata, Aug 19 (UNI) To inculcate a sense of safe driving and responsible road behaviour among the people, the West Bengal government has embarked upon a statewide drive, ‘Safe Drive, Save Life (SDSL ) campaign,’ initiative to bring down road accidents and effect better traffic measures.
This campaign, launched in 2016, gained immense popularity and was able to make people of the "Safe Drive Save Life”. The purpose of the campaign is to ensure road safety by sensitising the concept of safe driving among people. Roads are an integral part of life. Each one of us uses them to go to school, offices, markets, hospitals, and then to reach home back. Safe driving is an essential part of road safety.
Every day, so many people lose lives due to irresponsible and reckless driving. If We don't follow slightest precautions of safety, Our
life can be in danger. So, for this purpose of ensuring road safety by sensitizing the concept of safe driving among people, especially the youngsters and children is the motto of one of the best initiative created by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. To bring a positive attitudinal change and instilling better road discipline amongst the road users, Kolkata Traffic Police (KTP) is working relentlessly with the active participation of various schools, social clubs and other organisations.
As a furtherance of the SDSL movement, the measures undertaken by team KTP have been instrumental in dramatically reducing the accidents figures in the last one year.
However to enhance the participation of the general masses and imbibe the idea further into the minds and hearts of all road users, an original song and track competition on the theme of “Safe Drive Save Life” is being organised by Kolkata Traffic Police.
Kolkata Police (KP) has come up with another innovative way to reduce road accidents – using posters depicting scenes from famous films, both Bengali and Hindi, but with the original dialogues replaced with ones creating awareness about traffic safety rules.MORE UNI BM-SJC RN
