SAD (T) condemns previous Badal govt for sacrilege incidents, pardon to Dera chief

Thathian Mahanta, (Tarn Taran), Feb 21 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) on Friday condemned the previous Parkash Singh Badal government for sacrilege incidents, pardon given to Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh and Bargari incident.
Addressing a party rally here, SAD (T) president Ranjit Singh Brahampura said that being a true Akali, he is against the corrupt Akali leaders, who are responsible for sacrilege incidents, pardon to Dera chief Ram Rahim at Akal Takht Sahib and culprits behind the Bargari incident.
He said that Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) lost 2017 Assembly elections because of Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majhithia.
He urged the people to support the SAD-Taksali in Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said, ''Mr Parkash is calling us traitor because of endearment of his son,'' questioning the sacrifice of Sukhbir Singh Badal for the party.
Senior SAD (T) leader Sewa Singh Sekhwan, while addressing the rally, called the Badals as 'Narainu Mahant' and urged the people to support the SAD (T) in SGPC elections, so that it can be liberated from the clutches of Badal family.
Former Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Bir Davinder Singh blamed Mr Parkash Badal for sacrilege incidents in Punjab. He also urged the people to support SAD-Taksali.
Ten resolutions, including condemnation of previous Badal government for sacrilege incidents, pardon given to Dera chief Ram Rahim and Bargari incident, More rights be given to states on behalf of 'Anandpur Resolution', appeal to the Central government to conduct SGPC elections as early as possible, revocation of agreements with private companies for electric supply, implementation of Swaminathan Commission report for the benefit of farmers, release of pending payments of sugarcane by Punjab government, inclusion of Muslims in CAA and cancellation of decision regarding handing over common lands of villages to industrialists were read out by the party president, during the rally.
Other prominent leaders, who attended the rally, included Akali Dal-1920 president Ravi Inder Singh, Sikh Students Federation former president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, ex MLA Ravinder Singh Brahampura and Harjit Kaur, daughter of veteran Akali leader late Jagdev Singh Talwandi.
